#1022 Temple Elephants At Ceylon
This is a nice old postcard image! It pictures a group of five large elephants and their native riders. They cool off after their bath in the river. Front of card reads "Temple Elephants after their bath, Kandy , Ceylon". A nice old Sri Lanka postcard image! The producer of this postcard, A. W. Plate & Co., was one of Ceylon's (Sri Lanka's) most successful early photographic firms. Back of postcard is divided and is postally unused. Back is printed "Plate's Art Post Card". Condition- Very good with light corner wear

#492 Harvest Dance Bhil Tribe Bombay India
This postcard is a beauty! It pictures a tribe of the Bhil, I believe of the Bombay India area. Men stand at right while the draped women are at left. Front is printed "Bhil Harvest Dance". A nice old tribal India view! The majority of the native Bhill population is scattered over Central and Western India. After agriculture, the Bhills depend on fish cultivation for earning their livelihood. Being scanty in number in Tripura ,the Bhills have very limited cultural activities. They seldome dance, except in celebration after hunting of wild animals or after harvest. Only men take part in such dance.Back of the card is is divided and is postmarked "Bombay India Jan 27 1933 G.P.O.". Condition is excellent as shown. Any lines or waves are from the scanner and not on the actual image. Your item is shipped to you safely in a rigid mailer.
